Let’s talk about Marxist Feminism – a Workers’ Liberty reading group
We will be meeting for 4 Monday’s, starting on Monday 20th April, to discuss Lisa Vogel’s “Marxism and the Oppression of Women, Toward a Unitary Theory”.
First published in 1983 and recently republished, this pioneering text tried to extend Marxist theory by way of critically analysing what Marx and Engels wrote about capitalism, especially the family under capitalism, in order to come to a better understanding of the role of women’s unpaid labour and how oppression is reproduced alongside class exploitation. She aimed for an integrated theory.
