Let’s talk about…Nina Power’s One Dimensional Woman

A monthly reading group exploring radical interpretations of women’s oppression.

One Dimensional Woman_coverAfter a little summer break we’re back and this month we’re reading Nina Power’s One Dimensional Woman (2010). The book looks at how capitalism and the right-wing have co-opted and used the language of feminism; the relationship between feminism and consumerism; and examines the changing nature of work, sexuality and culture.Everyone welcome to join us for discussion of these issues in general and of the book.

When? Monday 6 October • 6.30-8.30 pm

Where?  University College London – Drayton House* – room B06

The book is short so we’re reading it all – don’t worry if you don’t finish it just come along anyway. Reading available here: one-dimensional-woman.pdf. Also feel free to post articles/ideas for related reading below.

We welcome everyone to join us for discussion – the group is open to people of all genders and none. If you need childcare or other support get in touch and we can discuss what would be best. Bring food and snacks to share.

Facebook event here. Please email women@workersiberty.org  or call 07883 520 852 for anything else you wish to know!

*Drayton House is just on the corner of Euston Road and Gordon Street, diagonally opposite University College London Students’ Union. B06 is in the basement – take the stairs down to the basement. Turn left through the double doors. Follow the corridor and B06 is straight ahead.
